Colusa County Office of Education Fire Academy

Registration is Closed for Spring 2026 Cohort

Upon successful completion of the 380-hours taught to Firefighter 1 standards, the student will receive fire service certifications, a CCOE/CTE Certificate of Achievement and eligibility to apply for California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CALFIRE). Download Course Catalog here.

Fire Academy Schedule

  • October 14, 2025  -  Application due
  • October 25, 2025  -  Selected candidates will be notified
  • November 22, 2025  -  Mandatory Orientation for Cadets (3:00pm - 5:00pm)
  • December 8, 2025  -  All payments and paperwork must paid in full or Cadet will be dropped
  • January 2, 2026 to May 9, 2026  -  Classes in session
  • 19 weekends (total of 380 hours)
  • Fridays, 5:30pm to 9:30pm (end times are subject to change)
  • Saturdays & Sundays, 7:00am to 5:00pm (end times are subject to change)

  • Wildland Fire Control 
  • Interior Structure Operations
  • Fire Engine Operations
  • Fire Line Construction
  • Confined Space Awareness
  • HAZMAT certification
  • Firefighter Safety 

 

Cost

  • Tuition: $3000 (*subject to change each year due to changes in costs)
  • Uniform: Approximately $400 (includes pants, shirts, gloves, shorts & boots)
  • Gear Rental: Approximately $900 (includes shipping)
